Principal's Message 2020
Dear Parents, Staff and Stephenians,
As 2019 draws to a close, we celebrate and give thanks. 2019 has been a special year for all Lasallians as we mark the 300th anniversary of the death of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, Patron Saint of Teachers and Founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. It is a Jubilee Year, the Year of Lasallian vocations. Throughout the year and around the world, events and celebrations are honouring our common Lasallian mission of Faith, Service and Community. It is a year not only to honour La Salle’s impact and mission, but to marvel at the vastness and work of the Lasallian network which teaches more than 900,000 students across 80 countries worldwide. It is a reminder that regardless of our backgrounds, we are all one, working together for the common good.
We in St. Stephen’s School are very blessed to be part of this worldwide family. Our P6 2019 boys have just graduated, and we hope that they will continue to be inspired by the Lasallian Philosophy of Faith, Service and Community. They have blossomed and are ready to embark on their next phase of growth and development. New challenges and opportunities await them. We wish all of them well and hope they will always keep close to their hearts the school values that we have taught them. We hope that they will remember to express gratitude to all the teachers and non-teaching staff who have impacted them in their years at St. Stephen’s, and also thank their family members for playing a crucial role in developing them into fine boys of character.
As we commence the year 2020, we remind ourselves of our roots and mission. St. Stephen’s is a school of strong traditions and heritage, and we are a family of boys, teachers, non-teaching staff, parents and alumni who hold the Lasallian Philosophy and our School Motto dear. We strive to collectively create the St. Stephen’s experience that shapes our boys into Men of Integrity and Men for Others. Anchored in strong values, our boys will be able to make the difficult but right decisions always, and be an inspiration to family and friends. One day, in the footsteps of their seniors and old boys, they will step forth to serve the community, nation and even the world.
In the words of our School Motto Cedere et Servire: To Believe and To Serve.
Miss Loh Sing Huay
